To put this excitement in perspective, I'd say my top three loves in life are food, travel, and Seinfeld. I've watched this show since I was too young to stay up to watch it (at 9 p.m.). I can recite whole scenes on command. For my college thesis I analyzed, among other characters, Elaine from Seinfeld. In other words, seeing Jerry Seinfeld do his stand-up is a life-long dream.
To gear up for this night, I've decided on Dish This each day until Saturday I'll be highlighting my favorite Seinfeld food moments-- and there are TONS of them! From the soup nazi to Elaine getting dumped over Juji Fruits, there's a lot to choose from. And of course, I'll relate them to something Boston-y.
This first one? The Muffin Top episode! Elaine pops the tops off her muffin, starting a revolution. Who hasn't thrown away the stump?!
Here in Boston, sadly we don't have a "Top of the Muffin to You!" store. However, we DO have Boston Beanstock Coffee Co. in my own neighborhood! Located on Salem Street in the North End, this coffee company offers free wi-fi, yummy paninis, specialty coffees, and most importantly, MUFFIN TOPS! When I visited, I had a delicious pumpkin one.
No word on whether or not they made Mr. Lippman's mistake of baking the muffins without the bottoms...But in any case, they are delicious.
Top of the muffin...to you, dear reader! ;)
